Zoning Office:
Robert Seger,
Zoning Inspector
I
was hired as Springfield Township Zoning Inspector in March 2002. I have been a
zoning inspector for approximately 17 years, last working for the neighboring
township of Monclova. Before that, I was simultaneously Zoning Inspector for
Jerusalem, Spencer and Monclova Township. As you can see, zoning is not new to
me. My move to Springfield Township was not just a move north - it was a move
up, toward a higher level of township zoning. Springfield is the second largest
township in the county. It is a dynamic and diverse area with demands to grow
from the commercial, industrial and residential sectors. At the same time, there
is pressure to preserve farmland as well as the Oak Openings Region.
Fortunately, Springfield has three Trustees that know the importance of good
zoning. They have implemented a Master Plan revision process that will provide
citizen-based direction and a plan for the township zoning department to follow,
giving it the resources, tools and authority to put that plan into action. For
this opportunity I am grateful and I look forward to the challenges to come.
