Marylin Yoder (419)
865-5115
Trustee
When
people describe Marylin Yoder, one of the first things mentioned is hard worker.
Likely, this quality was "cultivated" while growing up on a farm in Metamora,
Ohio. Her strong work ethic continued as she and husband Lowell started two
"family" businesses in Holland: 1)
Yoder
Machinery Company. For 35 years, Yoder Machinery Company offered Marylin a
variety of experiences -- from janitor to office administrator, mailroom clerk
to bookkeeper, advertising manager to saleswoman. 2) raising five Yoder children
(Tom, Tim, Terry, Trudy and Tammy)! The family has expanded to include 17
grandkids. Marylin considers her family her finest treasure.
In 1967 Marylin started her path in political service when she was elected
Springfield Township Trustee. Her good business senses coupled with her people
skills have made a winning combination as an elected official.
During Marylin's tenure as Springfield Township Trustee she has seen many
changes as the township continues to attract residents. She has had to
constantly be conscious of and combat annexation attempts. She is a strong
advocate for township government, and is committed to preserving it. She
believes it is the most effective form of government – dealing with her
constituency on a daily basis -- at the grocery, post office, bank, church and
restaurants. She has worked to secure over 35 acres of additional parkland for
the existing Community Homecoming Parkland. Additionally over her tenure Marylin
has seen the Fire Department grow from a small volunteer fire department to a
well respected full-time leading department within Lucas County including
providing contracted EMS service. Marylin was instrumental in the implementation
of the Hotel-Motel Tax in 1981 that has since yielded more than $2 million in
revenue for the township.
Her dedication has given Springfield Township an experienced and respected
representation throughout Northwest Ohio. She has served as president of the
Lucas County Township Association for 18 years. Besides hard working, other
appropriate descriptions of Marylin would be genuine, fiscally responsible,
service-oriented, respected and of course, experienced
