Feature * UPDATE ON ADAM’S CONSERVATION INVESTIGATION

There have been several reports made to the Lucas County Sheriff’s Department over the past few months regarding bullets coming onto homeowner’s property in Hidden Harbour. There is speculation that these bullets may be coming from Adam’s Conservation. After receiving reports of this nature, the Lucas County Sheriff’s Department began investigating the matter and did visit Adam’s Conservation and temporarily shut down one of the ranges.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has jurisdiction over a matter such as this and came out to inspect the range in question to address some safety concerns. Upon their inspection, ODNR made the following two recommendations:
      1. To lower the overhang in order to reduce the sky limit on the rifle range
      2. To install ammunition catchers on top of the hill.

In making these recommendations, the ODNR takes into consideration the National Association of Shooting Ranges guidelines as well as the National Rifle Association Range Sourcebook.

Please remember that these are recommendations that were made and that Adam’s Conservation cannot be found in violation for not following these recommendations. However, Adam’s Conservation has been cooperative in this investigation and has indicated that they are planning on making the recommended changes.

If you have additional questions regarding this investigation please contact Major Ron Keil at the Lucas County Sheriff’s Department.
