2007 Leaf Pickup & Dumpster Days:

With summer now over, many homeowners will be preparing to complete the various home
maintenance items which need to be done prior to the onset of winter. One priority on
almost everyone's to-do list is the raking of leaves. In an effort to dispose of your
leaves as quickly as possible, township residents are asked to please follow the basic
guidelines listed below:

All leaves should be raked into rows near the edge of the street, but not into the street.
In all curbed areas, leaf piles should be located between the curb and the sidewalk.

Leaves should not be placed around utility guide wires, mailboxes or fire hydrants,
subsequently obstructing their pick up.

Please do not mix trash, branches, stones, garden, or construction materials in with your
leaves.

Leaves should be raked to the curb as soon as possible to ensure timely pickup.

Residents are asked to avoid parking on the street during the period when leaf collection is
scheduled.

We wish we could provide an absolute schedule for picking up leaves during this season
but there are too many factors that would change the schedule. However, our normal
route is to go from east to west starting with Holland-Sylvania, and north to south
starting at Bancroft. The curbed subdivisions and/or areas with higher density of trees
will be collected more often due to safety issues as well as to avoid clogging the sewers
or damaging the storm sewer water.

We will pass each street at least 3-4 times during the season. Leaves will be collected
until December 14th, weather permitting. If we get hit with snow before that, it will be
necessary to change our equipment from leaf pick-up to snow plowing. Please bear with
us during this crazy season.

After December 10th, the crews will pick up leaves on an as needed basis. So please call the
office at 419-865-0239 Ext 10 to let us know when your final raking occurs and we will do
our best to pick them up as quickly as we can. Thank you for your patience in this matter.

Keep in mind that Springfield Township does not collect leaves on any private road.
Residents must secure their own leaf removal that live on the following roads or
developments: Treetop Lane, Castle Oak and Forest Glen in Stone Oak; Tremore, Hidden
Harbour, Wolf Creek Estates and Embassy Court.

For more information on leaf pickup, please contact the Springfield Township Road
Maintenance office at (419)865-0239 x14.
